You Make me Smile
When Danny and Maya came to the studio to I knew it was going to be fun to work with them on their wedding rings. They are an incredibly lovely couple who always make you feel so warm and fuzzy.
Danny works in design and Maike is one of those naturally stylish women who effortlessly looks fabulous all the time. I suggested the two of them visit a generic jeweller in town to try on rings. This ways they could see how which metal they preferred. After trying on several rose gold, yellow gold and platinum rings they both decided that platinum was the material for them. Maike, who is German, wanted precious stones set in her ring and was quick to decide that they should be green, as reminder of Danny’s Irish heritage – so emeralds were the clear choice.
They wanted two rings that shared a common link so I began working on some ideas. I wanted the two rings to be effortlessly stylish and decided that Danny’s ring should simply hold the impressions of Maya’s ring on the outside of his ring. I carved out five circular impressions on Danny’s ring – like a Morse Code with a secret message that sends love in both directions.
Congratulations you two lovely people!
“My favourite thing about Laura’s creations are that each piece is different. They are all uniquely designed and made by hand, so no two are the same”
” There is something very special about knowing where my jewellery comes from and the hands that crafted it. I get compliments every time I wear my earrings from Laura.”
“Laura worked with my husband to design my engagement ring and I was struck by how she got it all so right without consulting me at all. It is beautiful, unusual and incredibly special to me. I now own a number of Coral Covey pieces. I’m an official superfan!”
