These two pairs of undies are made from 100% reclaimed/recycled sterling silver. On the spotty pair, the surface has been blackened with a natural sulphur oxide, giving it a darker finish, while the other pair has a brushed matt finish. Both pendants were made with a 55cm long sterling silver chain.
This piece was originally made for a group exhibition at the Bavarian Crafts Council in Munich. The was ‘Textiles’ and many makers from different fields were invited to created something that reflected this theme. I decided to make two sets of silver underpants. I think a clothesline with socks and T-shirts might be in the making.
It’s always great to make work for an exhibition or a special client because it gives me a chance to make something totally different and experiment with ideas i might not have thought of had I not had this opportunity.
Some other examples of custom made unique pieces are the piece I made for Marie who wanted to remember her Grandfather with a special pendant Orion of the Night and a set of cuff links I made for Simon but commissioned by his wife Caroline as a gift for his 40th birthday A Union of Crosses.

” I love and admire that sustainability and the environment are quintessential parts of the ethos at Coral Covey. I have purchased several pieces from Laura for myself and as gifts. I LOVE her classic, elegant and clever designs. Laura is a consummate professional and a skilled designer and jeweller.”
“The balance of modern and tradition in Laura’s work makes her pieces stand out as modern, yet timeless”
“I met with Laura to discuss commissioning a custom-made sterling silver headpiece for my wedding. Everything in the shops seems so mass-produced, and I wanted something truly special. Laura asked all the right questions and created exactly what I wanted. She kept me informed the whole way. The end result was so beautiful, more than I could have ever imagined!”
