A classic engagement ring with a twist. Making thi A classic engagement ring with a twist. Making this ring was a true joy. Rod and Ruby contacted me to create an their special ring and it has been a real pleasure to work with them on this project.
🌿
Ruby knew she wanted and Australian sapphire so I was able to source a locally found and cut stone from @langford_gems
🌿
Using my own unique organic design I created the ring to fit the stones and cast it in 100% recycled 9 carat rose gold.
🌿
Sometimes making a ring like this and working so closely with the couple creates a special bond. I’m so thrilled for these two gorgeous people! Congrats Ruby & Rod! ❤️

Just one of the beautiful, clever and well resolved pieces that came out of the Blak Design Course @rmit_gold_and_silversmithing
🌿
For those who haven’t yet seen my other posts regarding this course, myself and @blanchetilden designed a two week program in collaboration with @koorie_heritage_trust_inc @ngvmelbourne @rmituniversity
🌿
The course is designed to give 11 indigenous Victorians an opportunity to learn classic jewellery making techniques which can be combined with traditional indigenous techniques and materials.
🌿
It was an intense two weeks, so I’m really missing seeing you guys every morning, sharing stories and learning from each other. Brilliant to work with clever and inspirational people. More pics to come!
Sometime I’m asked create a custom piece for som Sometime I’m asked create a custom piece for someone pretty special. However, in this circumstance I had never met the recipient or the person commissioning me to make it, so communication way key.
🌿
During Melbourne’s lockdown, Louise sent me an email request for a special custom-made pendant for her daughter, Luisette.
🌿
Luisette was about to turn 18 and her parents wanted a special piece to mark the milestone. A lover of nature and music in equal measure, Luisette‘s pendant began to take shape easily.
🌿
Handmade and engraved in 100% recycled sterling silver with an 18 carat rose gold plating.
🌿
By sending sketches and videos of the pendant as it began to take shape, I was able to communicate with Louise easily about this special piece’s development.
🌿
It was a pleasure to meet both Louise and her daughter, Luisette recently when they both called past @therosestmarket to pay me a visit.

Thanks for all the lovely comments about this new Thanks for all the lovely comments about this new custom made piece I just finished ‘A New Chapter’. It appears we all love a good read 😉
This pendant was particularly difficult to make but with a bit of trial and error I was able to combine the right techniques required. I love a good challenge!
🌿
One of the best aspects of my job is designing and creating special custom pieces for lovely people. This pendant was for a client who was moving into a new chapter of her life and she wanted a unique piece to mark the moment. Together we discussed the design and materials, and after creating a few models I was ready to create the New Chapter. Thank you @crumplejwwow

A few months ago I made this snake ring 🐍, which I loved and thought it would fly off the shelf. Although it had some fans, it didn’t sell until today @therosestmarket

Like I said, sometimes the piece finds the person and today that’s just what happened. Farewell little snake friend. May your life be merry.

Yikes 😳 I was looking back on 2020 just now to Yikes 😳
I was looking back on 2020 just now to make this little collage and feeling quite emotional about the year we’ve all had.
🌿
From the devastating bushfires to the powerful Black Lives Matter movement to Covid...and everything in between. It’s been 12 months with a lot of challenges, but now it’s time to celebrate the small wins.
🌿
I think the one thing that has amazed me, and all of us, this year has been the sense of community. So many people have gone above and beyond to help out their communities (not least my incredible partner @wantedrabbit who works as an ICU nurse for @rchmelbourne)
🌿
