Ved and Phoebe have been together for twelve years and came to the Coral Covey to design a ring to mark their next step. Ved discovered Laura’s work through Instagram and was drawn to the balance of organic form and refined craftsmanship in her designs.
During their initial consultation, Laura took time to understand the person the ring was being created for. Ved described Phoebe as a vibrant woman who loves op-shopping, has an alternative sense of style, and a love for travelling and adventure. He wanted a ring that would express and complement her fun and unique style while still feeling timeless and wearable.
The chosen sapphire became the hero of the piece and immediately caught his interest. This Australian sapphire was expertly hand-cut into an emerald shape with a non-standard faceting pattern on the pavilion (the underside of the gem), creating a subtle ripple effect across the stone. Truly a one-of-a-kind gemstone. Laura set the sapphire on a slight angle, reinterpreting the traditional solitaire style and adding a sense of individuality to the design.
Laura carved the ring by hand using 100% recycled and refined classic yellow gold, adorning the sides of the band with fern-like embellishments that echo the organic character of the piece.
Inside the band, hand-engraved sunflowers reference Phoebe’s favourite flower, adding a thoughtful detail to piece.

This ring came gift packaged in a wooden box made by the New Zealand team at GIVE. These guys make special bespoke wooden jewellery boxes for Coral Covey from sustainable forest woods with care, quality and workmanship.
Laura also includes an authenticity certificate with every ring, detailing the carat and quality of the precious stones and metal as well as special care instructions.
