Laura had the absolute pleasure of working with both Chloe and Aaron—separately—for their surprise engagement and wedding rings to each other.
This gorgeous couple chose a non-traditional path for their ring journey, something we adore at Coral Covey. It was Chloe who first reached out to Laura, hoping to create matching wedding bands ahead of a hiking trip to Tasmania, where she planned to propose to Aaron. Their wedding rings, which feature some of Laura’s favourite engravings to date, were made with so much intention and love. You can view them here.
Typically, the engagement ring is designed first, with wedding bands created later to match, but Chloe and Aaron flipped the script. Chloe proposed with their wedding bands, turning the usual order on its head in the most beautiful way.
After their Tassie proposal, Aaron got in touch with Laura, also in secret—to design a surprise engagement ring for Chloe. Through video chats and emails, they worked together to create something sentimental, elegant, and perfectly complementary to Chloe’s wedding band.
To ensure a seamless fit, Aaron even posted Chloe’s band back to Laura, so her engagement ring could be made to nestle around it just right.
As Laura and Aaron explored design possibilities together, it became clear that ethically sourced and traceable gemstones and materials were essential. Chloe and Aaron share a deep love for the outdoors—bonding over many hikes, camping trips, and a shared respect for nature—so sustainability was at the heart of every decision.
The final piece features a 0.64ct round brilliant champagne diamond from the Argyle mine in Western Australia, flanked by two hand fossicked Australian sapphires. An organic take on a five-stone ring, each gem is held in Laura’s signature claw settings, with delicate fern engravings along the band—a nod to the couple’s nature-inspired wedding bands and their love of the wilderness.
This piece was crafted using 100% recycled and refined 14-carat yellow gold. You can find out more about the importance of using recycled materials here.
This ring came gift packaged in a wooden box made by the New Zealand team at GIVE. These guys make special bespoke wooden jewellery boxes for Coral Covey from sustainable forest woods with care, quality and workmanship.
Laura also includes an authenticity certificate with every ring, detailing the carat and quality of the precious stones and metal as well as special care instructions.
