Sapphires that shine brightest at sunset
Gary approached Laura about making a ring for his proposal to Rose well in advance of his planned date. This gave them enough time to develop the design and source the right stones. He wanted to use an ethically mined diamond but wasn’t sure what else to include. Laura suggested Australian blue sapphires would be a beautiful accompaniment to flank the diamond. As an Australian himself, he loved this suggestion. Once the ring was finished Gary proposed to Rose on the sandy beaches of Rye, their favourite beach, and the one where they met, some 7 years ago. Ruby said ‘YES!’ and so began the next exciting chapter of their lives. Congratulations guys!
All five stones are set in 100% recycled and refined 9-carat rose gold using a ‘cast in place’ technique. This is where the stones are set in the wax and the casting of the metal happens with the stones in the investment. For more technical information on how this process is done, click here. This ring came gift packaged in a wooden box made by the New Zealand team at GIVE. These guys make special bespoke wooden jewellery boxes for Coral Covey from sustainable forest woods with care, quality and workmanship.
Laura also includes an authenticity certificate with every ring, detailing the carat and quality of the precious stones and metal as well as special care instructions.
