Laura and Dani visited Laura’s studio in person to design their engagement rings together. Though their individual tastes and design preferences were quite different, they both wanted to create a shared connection between their rings.
To inspire this connection, Laura encouraged the couple to reflect on a significant moment in their relationship—the first time they said “I love you.” Dani recalled that, during that moment, they picked up a shell, which they affectionately named their “Seashell of Love.” To honour this memory, Laura engraved half of the shell’s shape inside their rings, so that when placed together, they form the complete image.
The couple also wanted to incorporate another unifying element, and Laura suggested her signature ‘snuggle’ ring design. This technique involves creating the rings in unison, with one taking the impression of the other. In this case Dani’s ring takes the impression of Laura’s, therefore snuggling into each other.
For the gemstone, Laura chose an exquisite 0.78ct Australian free-form cut sapphire. This was a particularly special gem, as Laura and Dani had the opportunity to see the rough sapphire before it was shaped into its unique form. By chance, they also met the talented lapidarist behind this transformation—Amy from Dream of Sapphires—a highly skilled, female Australian artisanal lapidarist, who is a true master of her craft.
