Rachel and Michael’s engagement ring is a reflection of their shared creativity and connection, a hand-carved piece that celebrates their individuality and the special union they share as a couple.
Laura first met this lovely pair virtually for their initial consultation, and they later decided to fly from Adelaide to Melbourne for a weekend getaway to hand select their sapphires in the Coral Covey studio.
Both lovers of the arts, they were drawn to creating something that didn’t look like a traditional engagement ring. They wanted a design that reflected who they are and their shared value of supporting local makers and craftsmanship.
This four stone ring features the most stunning examples of Australian sapphires, including two remarkable free-form cuts and two pear cut partis. They showcase gorgeous flashes of blue, green, and yellow, and all hand mined and cut in Queensland, Australia. The two free-form sapphires were carefully fitted together to create a harmonious pairing, while the pear cuts sit perfectly either side. The stones are set in Laura’s organic claws, with delicate leafy engravings embellishing the settings and continuing into the hand-engraved leaves along the band.
Michael later proposed in Turkey, surrounded by hot air balloons and breathtaking scenery — a moment beautifully captured by Mehmet Kara Photography.
This piece was made using 100% recycled and refine 18-carat classic yellow gold. You can find out more about the importance of using recycled materials here.
This ring came gift packaged in a wooden box made by the New Zealand team at GIVE. These guys make special bespoke wooden jewellery boxes for Coral Covey from sustainable forest woods with care, quality and workmanship.
Laura also includes an authenticity certificate with every ring, detailing the carat and quality of the precious stones and metal as well as special care instructions.
