May first approached Laura to create a surprise engagement ring for Melissa. Knowing Melissa’s taste leaned towards classic simplicity, May decided on a 4mm half round band that features a personal engraving - the outline of a bike path they often rode on together.
When Melissa decided she wanted to surprise May in return, she wanted a ring that told their story, a piece embedded with meaning and memories.
Their story began as friends, spending countless hours hanging out and often braiding each other’s hair. That simple, intimate memory of connection inspired the embellishments on this piece. Laura captured this special memory by hand engraving ‘braid-like’ details delicately along the band.
The central stone on this ring is a rose cut cognac diamond, which displays rich and warm golden brown hues. Melissa chose it because it perfectly reflects the colour of May’s eyes.
Flanking the centre stone are two round brilliant cut milky diamonds. Two claw settings and two flat spot settings hold the central diamond securely, while the side stones are set with a classic grain setting.
The ring is crafted in 9-carat rose gold made with 100% recycled and refined metal, bringing together sustainability and sentiment.

This ring came gift packaged in a wooden box made by the New Zealand team at GIVE. These guys make special bespoke wooden jewellery boxes for Coral Covey from sustainable forest woods with care, quality and workmanship.
Laura also includes an authenticity certificate with every ring, detailing the carat and quality of the precious stones and metal as well as special care instructions.
