Yvonne and Alex visited the Coral Covey studio after following Laura’s work for some time, having first discovered it at the Rose Street Markets years earlier. They booked a consultation together to design a ring that brought elements of their shared history and present into a single piece.
The final design is a Toi et Moi ring, pairing two white diamonds side by side. One is a 3.45mm round brilliant-cut heirloom diamond, which Laura carefully removed from Alex’s grandmother’s ring, set alongside a 0.38ct pear-shaped lab-grown diamond. The pairing brings together past and present, with each stone retaining its own identity and symbolism within the design.
The ring was made by hand in the Coral Covey studio using 18-carat classic yellow gold, sourced from 100% recycled and refined material. Both stones are set at the top of the band and held in organic claw settings, with four claws securing the round diamond and five claws for the pear. The band features a half round–round profile with a slight taper from the setting, finished with a high polish.
Nature-inspired details were an early point of reference, particularly foliage forms. As indoor plant lovers, Yvonne and Alex shared reference images of their lush plant collection for Laura to draw from. The inside of the band features a symbolic engraving of a bear, a bee, and a honeypot, referencing shared nicknames and the life the ring represents, with a subtle connection back to where they first met.

This ring came gift packaged in a wooden box made by the New Zealand team at GIVE. These guys make special bespoke wooden jewellery boxes for Coral Covey from sustainable forest woods with care, quality and workmanship.
Laura also includes an authenticity certificate with every ring, detailing the carat and quality of the precious stones and metal as well as special care instructions.
