Ash had been following Coral Covey since the early days of Laura’s Rose Street Market stall, and when it came time to create her engagement ring, she knew she wanted to co-design something meaningful with her partner, Andrew.
Inspired by other Coral Covey asymmetrical designs, the couple worked closely with Laura to bring their own story to life. At the centre is a 1.25ct freeform-cut Australian sapphire, hand-mined in Rubyvale, QLD. Depending on the light and angle in which you view it, it reveals intense and deep flashes of blue. It was expertly hand-cut by a local lapidarist into this unique freeform shape, making it truly unlike any other gemstone.
The sapphire is framed by four heirloom diamonds, lovingly passed down from Ash’s mum. Each one was carefully unset from its original setting and reimagined. Laura set them in a mix of organic claws, flush settings and star-engraved details that embrace the ring’s asymmetry.
This engagement ring is more than a piece of jewellery—it’s a celebration of Ash and Andrew’s journey and love, and a tribute to the generations before them. A modern heirloom, created for a new chapter.
Crafted in 100% recycled and refined 18-carat white gold, Laura left the metal without rhodium plating to highlight its naturally soft and warm tone.

This ring came gift packaged in a wooden box made by the New Zealand team at GIVE. These guys make special bespoke wooden jewellery boxes for Coral Covey from sustainable forest woods with care, quality and workmanship.
Laura also includes an authenticity certificate with every ring, detailing the carat and quality of the precious stones and metal as well as special care instructions.
