Kacper reached out to Laura in secret to design a bespoke engagement ring for Monika. While Monika wasn’t involved in the process, Kacper had a clear sense of the style she loved.
Monika first came across Coral Covey while working on a product design project, which is how Kacper was introduced to Laura’s work. They later had the chance to meet Laura in person at the Big Design Market, where they tried on a few rings. Both were drawn to the flat spot settings and free-form Australian sapphires, and the experience helped solidify the decision to create a piece featuring one of these stones — set in Laura’s signature style. They also appreciated the handmade nature of each piece and the sustainability that underpins the Coral Covey approach.
At its centre sits a beautiful 1.15ct free-form cut green/blue Australian sapphire, which was skilfully hand-cut by Scott Langford. A freeform cut is guided by the rough crystal shape, where the lapidarist will create a unique non-standard cut, in order to maximise both yield and beauty. This results in a completely one of a kind shape, and a perfect marker of a love story just as unique.
It's set in Laura’s signature ‘flat spot’ settings, in 100% recycled and refined 18-carat yellow gold. To allow a wedding band to sit nice and snug alongside it, the band was made with a subtle flat edge.
This piece was crafted using 100% recycled and refined 14-carat yellow gold. You can find out more about the importance of using recycled materials here.
This ring came gift packaged in a wooden box made by the New Zealand team at GIVE. These guys make special bespoke wooden jewellery boxes for Coral Covey from sustainable forest woods with care, quality and workmanship.
Laura also includes an authenticity certificate with every ring, detailing the carat and quality of the precious stones and metal as well as special care instructions.
Customers who were interested in this piece also viewed the 'My Ring, Our Family', and the 'Adventure & Inspiration' Ring.
