Georgia and Ted met with Laura via video chat from their home in Geelong. They were both involved in the early stages of the design process, choosing the gemstone and overall direction together. Every detail was discussed via emails and phone consultations, with Laura offering guidance and sharing reference photos to help shape each decision. Once the key decisions were made, Ted stepped in to finalise the design and keep the finished ring a surprise.
Georgia was drawn to the idea of an asymmetrical ring that celebrated both shape and colour—something unique, thoughtful, and a little different. It was important to them that the design felt balanced and considered, without being too flashy or gaudy. Having something handmade, ethical, and sustainably created was also at the core of what they envisioned.
They chose a 1.19ct free-form cut Australian parti sapphire as the central stone. Its natural shape and colour zoning gave the design its starting point. To one side sits a round brilliant cut champagne diamond; on the other, a princess cut. The subtle contrast in shape adds character, while the warm tones of the Australian diamonds pair beautifully with the 18-carat yellow gold.
After considering whether to add texture or engraving, they decided on a classic high-polished band to let the stones remain the focus—nothing to distract from their natural beauty or the soft, organic claws that hold them in place.
