Christian and Lucy live in Tasmania and worked with Laura via virtual consultation to design Lucy’s engagement ring.
Lucy had been following Laura’s work on Instagram, drawn to the organic textures and branch-like details in her designs. When Christian contacted Laura in secret, he knew exactly what Lucy loved - a gorgeous deep foresty green sapphire in a pear cut set in an organic textured design.
After their initial chat, Laura sourced several pear cut Australian sapphires for Christian to choose from and sent through photos and videos via email. Among them, they found the one: a 1.4ct pear cut Australian green sapphire in a lush deep green that felt perfectly in tune with Lucy’s vision.
The final design is a solitaire in classic 14-carat yellow gold, featuring a textured, forest-inspired band with hand-engraved leafy details. Organic claws hold the sapphire in place, with subtle leafy engraving that ties the setting back to the band.
For the wedding bands, Christian and Lucy wanted matching organic textures. Lucy’s was carved in 14-carat yellow gold to fit neatly under her engagement ring, while Christian’s was made in sterling silver. Inside each band is the phrase engraved “keep it secret, keep it safe” from The Lord of the Rings — translated into Irish Gaelic for Lucy and Scottish Gaelic for Christian.
