A devastated Jemma approached Laura after searching for a jeweller who could help her create a new engagement ring after it was lost. Jemma still had her wedding band, so Laura was able to create a ring to fit perfectly with the wedding band. The wedding band has three small deep blue Australian sapphires, so Laura used these as inspiration to find the perfect precious stone. The central stone Jemma chose was a stunning Australian Sapphire with a unique ‘free-form-cut’ and is flanked with two brilliant-cut salt and pepper diamonds. Usually an engagement ring is made before the wedding band, but Laura was able to work with Jemma to create a new engagement ring unlike any other.
A free-form cut is where the lapidarist (the person cutting the stone) is able to cut the sapphire in an organic way and does not conform to traditional, classic cuts. The stones are set using Laura’s signature organic claw setting into a band of 100% recycled and refined 9-carat white gold. You can find out more about the importance of using recycled materials here.
This ring came gift packaged in a wooden box made by the New Zealand team at GIVE. These guys make special bespoke wooden jewellery boxes for Coral Covey from sustainable forest woods with care, quality and workmanship.
Laura also includes an authenticity certificate with every ring, detailing the carat and quality of the precious stones and metal as well as special care instructions.
