The brilliant green of Sam's eyes reflected an Australian sapphire

Sam approached Laura to design this ring in secret. He wanted to surprise his partner Kim with an engagement proposal, but he had a very special request. Kim had previously mentioned in passing to Sam that if they were ever to get engaged, she would love a ring that reflected the colour of his eyes, that stunning green is her favourite colour. Sam initially came to Laura thinking of a deep green emerald, however Laura introduced him to the option of an Australian sapphire, not only a more ethically sourced stone than a natural emerald, but more a more likely match to the green of his eyes.

Laura was able to source a beautiful Australian sapphire that reflected the colour of Sam’s eye’s perfectly. The sapphire is flanked by two salvaged heirloom diamonds. The stones are set using Laura’s signature organic setting into a 100% recycled and refined 18-carat yellow gold band. Congratulations you two – you really have found the perfect match!

This ring came gift packaged in a wooden box made by the New Zealand team at GIVE. These guys make special bespoke wooden jewellery boxes for Coral Covey from sustainable forest woods with care, quality and workmanship.

Laura also includes an authenticity certificate with every ring, detailing the carat and quality of the precious stones and metal as well as special care instructions.

Workshops

Thanks for your interest in my Ring Making Workshops. These are a really fun way to make your own wedding bands or make a ring for a friend.

For this particular workshop we need two half days of approx 3-4 hours. I will guide you both through what is possible, and then I assist you in carving the rings for each other.

– In the first class, we will meet at my workshop in The Nicholas Building and I will size you both and teach you both the art of wax carving the ring to the correct size.
– 2-3 weeks later, at the second meeting, you will learn to file and finish the rings together using classic jewellery techniques, tools and materials.
– You are not required to have any prior skills, materials or tools.
All of this is provided for you.

My price for the two half days is $790. Please note this is for both of you and that these are weekdays, however this does not cover the cost of the rings.

The price of the ring itself will be determined by three factors:
– material
– finger ring size
– band thickness
